The Government of Uganda has published the 2024 National State of the Environment Report, offering a comprehensive assessment of the country’s environmental health and policy direction. The report reveals that over 40% of Uganda’s land is degraded, largely due to soil erosion and unsustainable farming practices. Air and water quality are also under pressure, with Kampala’s PM2.5 pollution levels frequently exceeding WHO guidelines and only 68% of citizens accessing safe drinking water. These findings underscore the urgent need for strengthened conservation measures and climate resilience planning across the country.
