International Desertif'actions Summit opens in Djerba, Tunisia

An international summit on desertification and land degradation starts in Djerba, Tunisia, bringing together hundreds of experts to address climate resilience and land management in arid regions.

The sixth edition of the Desertif'actions Summit opened on 25 March 2026 in Djerba, Tunisia, at the Institut supérieur des études technologiques (ISET). Organized by CARI, UNCCD, and OSS with partners including ACDD and WWF North Africa, the event gathers around 350 international participants. Attendees include researchers, civil society representatives, NGOs, public institutions, and local authorities focused on combating desertification and promoting sustainable land use. Discussions center on transforming sedentary farming and pastoral systems, improving water management, and strengthening regional resilience to climate and environmental crises. The summit aims to foster cross-border cooperation and practical solutions for Tunisian and Mediterranean drylands.
