A nationwide Girls in ICT – AI Hackathon 2026 is running in Arusha, inviting female university students to build AI solutions tackling real‑world challenges.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, together with TCRA, UCSAF, and the ICT Centre of Excellence, has launched the Girls in ICT – AI Hackathon 2026 in Arusha. Targeting Tanzanian female university students aged 18–24 with basic programming skills, the event runs from March 23 to 27, 2026, under the theme “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.” Participants collaborate in teams, receive mentorship, and pitch AI‑driven applications addressing local and national issues. The hackathon includes prizes for winning teams, certificates for all attendees, and arrangements for accommodation, meals, and transport to support participation.
