Man shot in head during robbery in Hartbeespoortdam area

A man was shot in the head during a home robbery in Melodie, Hartbeespoortdam, North West, with two suspects fleeing with two cellular phones.

Police in the North West responded to a shooting incident at a residence in Melodie, Hartbeespoortdam, around 1:20 a.m. on 22 March 2026. Officers found emergency medical personnel treating a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains hospitalized. Preliminary investigations indicate that two unknown suspects entered the home by removing a kitchen window. One suspect, armed with a firearm, confronted the occupants, leading to a physical altercation during which the victim was shot. The suspects fled the scene taking two cellular phones. No arrests have been made, and SAPS continues to pursue all leads to apprehend the perpetrators.
