MoCTI launches new national technology skills program

Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) has launched a new national technology skills program aimed at building a pipeline of digitally fluent youth. The initiative focuses on teaching artificial intelligence applications, basic coding, cybersecurity fundamentals and data analytics through hybrid in‑person and online training centers across the country. Targeting secondary school students, university graduates and young entrepreneurs, the program partners with local tech hubs, universities and international development agencies to deliver curricula aligned with global digital labor market needs. Emphasis is placed on practical projects, hackathons and mentorship to boost employability and startup creation in priority sectors such as agriculture, health, education and financial services.
