The Ministry of Health in Lesotho recently completed a five‑day Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) training in Maseru, aimed at institutionalizing emergency management within the national health system. The training, held from 16 to 20 March 2026, was organized in collaboration with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and supported by WHO, UNICEF, and the U.S. CDC. It focused on governance, policy alignment, and operational readiness to improve coordination and decision‑making during disease outbreaks and other public health threats. Officials emphasized building a multidisciplinary workforce capable of timely and effective responses, reflecting Lesotho’s broader efforts to enhance health security and preparedness.
