Armed robbery gang intercepted in Gaborone residential area

Botswana Police Service intercepted a suspected armed robbery gang as it attempted to invade a residence in the Block 6 neighborhood of Gaborone on the morning of March 26, 2026. According to an official statement, police engaged the suspects in an exchange of fire, resulting in the deaths of three individuals believed to be part of a five-member gang. Officers recovered a firearm suspected to have been used by the suspects at the scene. Two remaining gang members managed to flee the area, prompting an immediate manhunt. Authorities have appealed to the public to provide information that could lead to their apprehension and have increased patrols in the neighborhood to prevent further incidents.
