Organised crime assault and kidnapping probe in Larnaca

Cypriot police probe organised crime network over alleged kidnapping, firearm possession and serious assault in Larnaca, with multiple suspects remanded and others still sought.

Cypriot authorities are investigating an organised crime network linked to alleged kidnapping, illegal possession and transport of firearms, and serious bodily harm in Larnaca. A 48‑year‑old Greek Cypriot suspect already held over a violent January brawl has been remanded again based on new testimony. A 27‑year‑old second suspect was also arrested, while a third individual remains at large; both detainees are scheduled to appear in court as police seek further detention. The case stems from an ongoing inquiry into Larnaca‑based organised crime, including a central‑city shooting and related extortion attempts against a local business owner.
