WHO‑Timor‑Leste workshop on TB and HIV stigma

Timor‑Leste’s Ministry of Health and WHO launched a two‑day national workshop in Dili to address stigma and discrimination in TB and HIV care, aiming to improve treatment access.

The Ministry of Health of Timor‑Leste, in partnership with the World Health Organization, opened a two‑day national workshop in Dili on June 2, 2025, focused on tackling stigma and discrimination in tuberculosis and HIV services. The workshop gathered health professionals, community leaders and policymakers to strengthen equitable care, improve early diagnosis, and encourage adherence to treatment. Participants developed strategies for community engagement, training of health workers, and multisectoral collaboration to reduce social barriers. The event is part of broader efforts to integrate TB and HIV responses into primary health care and to align with Timor‑Leste’s national health strategies for 2026–2030.
