Waterworkers Union SETA Protests Water Privatization and Contamination

In San Salvador, environmental and labor activists have staged protests against the privatization of water and highlighted contaminated water conditions.

On World Water Day, March 22, approximately five thousand people from unions, social organizations, and community groups participated in a water march in San Salvador. The protest, organized by the waterworkers union SETA, opposed the privatization of water and drew attention to contaminated water, unjust water distribution, and environmental destruction. The event signified an escalation of the ongoing campaign against attempts to privatize El Salvador's water resources, with participants warning that without intervention, the country's water situation could worsen.
