Haze from Johor fires may affect Singapore air quality

Smoke haze from hot spots in eastern Johor could continue to affect Singapore air quality, according to the National Environment Agency.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) reported on Wednesday evening, 25 March 2026, that smoke haze from hot spots in eastern Johor may continue to affect Singapore's air quality. Johor firefighters were battling several large fires in the Pengerang area, and prevailing winds were carrying smoke across the border. NEA stated that it is monitoring air quality closely and will provide updates if conditions worsen. Residents were advised to keep windows closed during periods of visible haze and to limit prolonged outdoor activities for very young children and those with respiratory conditions. The situation highlights Singapore's vulnerability to transboundary haze from regional land and forest fires.
