Commercial flights between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela have resumed after a nearly 20‑month suspension driven by prior diplomatic tensions.
Commercial flights between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela officially resumed on 18 March 2026, ending a suspension that had lasted nearly 20 months (from July 2024 to March 2026). The restoration of the air bridge follows a series of diplomatic and regulatory agreements finalized in early 2026. Direct air connectivity was originally severed on 29 July 2024 after the Venezuelan government, through its National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC), ordered the suspension of all commercial flights to and from the Dominican Republic, as well as Panama and Peru, in a retaliatory response to the Dominican government’s actions. The resumed service marks a de‑escalation in the bilateral dispute and reflects improving diplomatic relations.
