Laos sets 6% annual economic growth target for 2026‑2030

Laotian government has officially laid out a national socio‑economic plan targeting 6% average annual GDP growth from 2026 to 2030, aiming to stabilize inflation and reduce public debt.

The Lao government has launched its 10th National Socio‑Economic Development Plan for 2026–2030, centering on an annual growth target of 6% to support economic recovery and stability. Authorities plan to keep inflation around 5% and lower public debt to under 70% of GDP, while maintaining foreign‑exchange reserves sufficient for at least five months of imports. The blueprint emphasizes stronger financial discipline, improved public‑spending efficiency, and a gradual reduction in reliance on borrowing. It also projects per capita GDP to reach about 3,104 U.S. dollars by 2030, with services, industry, and agriculture all expected to contribute to growth under a more self‑reliant, market‑oriented economy.
