AFP Australia Supports the Fight Against Organised Crime in Timor-Leste
Government and Australian Federal Police collaborate to dismantle organised crime networks in Timor-Leste.
The Minister for the Interior of Timor-Leste announced that the government has been working with the Australian Federal Police to identify and dismantle organised criminal networks, including those involved in human trafficking, drug trafficking, and illegal online gambling. Authorities have issued resolutions to shut down illegal online gambling operations and have authorised the Criminal Investigation Services Directorate to pursue perpetrators. The Australian government has committed to supporting the capacity‑building of Timor‑Leste’s criminal investigators and providing equipment to detect illegal online gambling activities.
