Jordan’s finance minister presents 2026 budget priorities

Jordan’s finance minister outlines 2026 budget focus on growth, fiscal stability, and major infrastructure projects amid global economic challenges.

Jordan’s Minister of Finance Abdul Hakim Shibli detailed the priorities of the draft 2026 General Budget Law, emphasizing economic growth, fiscal stability, and strategic infrastructure. The budget channels resources toward implementing the second phase of Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision, including landmark projects such as the National Water Carrier, Aqaba–Shidiyah/Maan–Ghor Al Safi railway, and the Risheh gas pipeline, with total investment exceeding 10 billion dollars. Shibli highlighted recent improvements in real GDP growth, low inflation, and rising foreign reserves, while noting that 2026 will see continued expansion driven by tourism, exports, and remittances. The budget also aims to deepen public–private partnerships and sustain the Jordanian dinar’s stability.
