Ongoing cyber espionage campaign by UNC3886 targeting Singapore's critical infrastructure

Singapore continues to face an advanced persistent threat (APT) campaign by the state-sponsored UNC3886 group targeting critical information infrastructure.

During a speech at the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore’s 10th anniversary dinner, Coordinating Minister for National Security K. Shanmugam disclosed that UNC3886, a sophisticated cyber espionage group, is actively targeting Singapore’s critical information infrastructure. He described the group as highly sophisticated and persistent, aimed at high-value strategic targets such as vital infrastructure delivering essential services. The intent of UNC3886 includes long-term espionage and potential disruption of services including power, healthcare, and transport. The authorities are treating this ongoing threat as having serious national security implications, with the number of suspected APT attacks in Singapore having increased more than fourfold from 2021 to 2024.
